Information At Your Fingertips: Command Zone™ Advanced Electronics
Better information means better decisions. Command Zone brings vehicle diagnostics to a new level, delivering real-time data profiles of apparatus performance, encompassing all aspects of vehicle operation and diagnostics. The system includes multiplexing, Solid State Electronics, and an optional Command Zone Information Center display available in the cab, on the pump panel and on the aerial apparatus.
The system is easy to use, robust and reliable - sending multiple electrical signals through a datalink cable rather than the typical wire harness with separate wire circuits. Command Zone uses technology that has been proven in the automotive industry, now giving the critical fire fighting and maintenance information you need, quickly and reliably.
In short, Command Zone provides the kind of real time information that makes a real difference.
Benefits of Command Zone
-
Improved vehicle reliability; fewer wires and electrical connections mean fewer opportunities for problems.
-
Vehicle-specific I/O (input & output) sheets make troubleshooting easier.
-
Allows electronic systems, including the engine and transmission to share vital information.
-
Overall servicing is easier, and troubleshooting time can be reduced by as much as 90%.
-
Load management and sequential switching are standard features on all vehicles with Command Zone.
-
Hardware components (modules) are interchangeable. Other systems require disassembly or reprogramming of replacements.
-
Diagnostic software gives you the ability to have Pierce technicians troubleshoot your vehicle in the field, via modem, and pinpoint problem areas within minutes.
-
Solid-state electronics eliminate the need to replace relay fuses or circuit breakers.
-
5 year Limited Standard Warranty.
-
Optional LED diagnostics are integrated into the modules and make troubleshooting even easier. In addition to the on-board diagnostics software, the status of each circuit can now be visually examined by monitoring the LED status on the modules.
Command Zone Safety
- The Command Zone advanced electronics and control system allows interior and exterior vehicle lighting to dim gradually. When you leave a scene, perimeter lights stay illuminated for 10 seconds to give the driver a better "all-clear" view. Interior dome lights also stay illuminated for 10 seconds to allow the operator a chance to check all vehicle controls.
- Collision avoidance envelope control is included with Pierce Aerial Platforms and mid-mount apparatus that are equipped with this Command Zone system. The system can be programmed to operate within established safety parameters, including assisting alignment and stowing of the aerial ladder device.
- Automatic electrical power management prioritizes system loads to prevent interruption of critical operating systems at peak load. It also eliminates line surges during system startup so devices are less likely to fail.
- The Command Zone Information Center display includes a built in color video monitor that can be automatically activated to display backup and turn signal cameras when you need them most. Command Zone gives you more visibility with less clutter.
Display Panels
- An optional seat belt screen is available. As displayed above, the red icon indicates location of passengers that do not have seat belts fastened.
- The visual and audible warning display alerts occupants of open doors or compartments. If doors are open, the Command Zone Information Center (CZIC) automatically replaces the screen that is displayed with the screen that indicates that it is not safe to move the apparatus.
- For aerial devices, information is available for rung stabilizer: ladder capacity, breathing air, waterway flow, rung and ladder alignment, grade, slope, status, hydraulic oil pressure and temperature; aerial movement hours, PTO hours, aerial height, extension, reach, angle, and tip temperature.
- The load manager screen allows the operator to view loads that have been shed due to low system voltage. The operator has the opportunity to override the system and reset the loads to normal. This gives maximum flexibility to the load management system.
Mission Critical Programming
- The Command Zone Advanced Electronics and Control system utilizes patented Mission Critical Programming. This is a Pierce developed program only available on the Command Zone system that utilizes redundant safety systems similar to the aviation industry.
- Patented programming will maintain operational status or default to the predetermined safe mode in the event of a system fault that affects a critical operation. Unlike a traditional fuse and relay system, you get a "second chance".
