The world’s most advanced fire apparatus gives you more control and technology where it really counts. A combination that can only come from Pierce. Since its introduction, the Pierce® Quantum® has been the standard for performance and technology in the fire industry. Only Pierce has the experience, engineering expertise and manufacturing capability to provide a chassis with unprecedented features like those found in the Quantum. This goes beyond simple cosmetic enhancements. Pierce understands how you move, drive and work, and they used that knowledge to engineer a chassis that stands up to the demands of the job.
Right from the start, the bold design of the Quantum quickly sets it apart, setting a new tone for the look of fire apparatus into the future. However, the most significant changes are evident on the interior of the cab, which goes well past offering more space. It’s use of interior space makes the difference – flat floor, low engine tunnel, more head clearance and room for up to 10 firefighters distinguish the Quantum chassis. Engineered for efficient communication, the interior exceeds NFPA guidelines for noise levels, so you won’t need to shout to be heard.
The ergonomically designed wrap-around dash puts you in complete command of any situation. Like an automotive dash, it’s designed to keep controls at the fingertips of the operator. The wrap-around instrument panel has room for up to 80 switches in the overhead and dash positions. A high-performance HVAC system, with dual evaporators and durable vents keep air moving for maximum heating and defrosting. The Quantum has one of the largest cabs in the industry with increased space between the driver and engine tunnel for improved comfort.
The Quantum windshield gives you a clear view of the road and the scene through an unmatched 4100 square inches of wrap around glass – nearly the area of a 4x8-ft. sheet of plywood. Coupled with the outstanding seating positions for the driver and officer, that means unmatched visibility. Whether you’re making your way through tight traffic, sighting a tall building or commanding your crew, the Quantum chassis gives you a clear view of what lies ahead. Plus, tinted safety glass cuts both solar load and glare, while vertical (pantograph) wiper blades clear a maximum amount of glass area.
The cab itself runs up to 159" long and we’ve increased the space between the driver’s knee and the engine tunnel to enhance comfort level. The pushbutton transmission shift pad has also been moved forward 10", making it much easier to access.
The work surface on the officer’s side has also improved, transforming a simple workspace into a virtual command center. Its provides 36" of flat working surface and plenty of room for multiple devices, such as computer, binders, radio, GPS and more. There is also optional officer’s side overhead switching to enhance performance and improve the opportunity to multi-task as the need arises. |
