55' / 61' Sky-Boom™ • Aerial device mounted over the rear axle, on a welded steel, pedestal type mainframe assembly to the truck chassis frame, at the rear w/ rear stabilizers • Axle capacities - 16k to 20k front and 31k rear
Boom Assembly • Two (2) section, telescoping aluminum boom, constructed of aluminum 6061-T6, with minimum yield strength of 36,000 psi, permanently attached so that the upper section extends and retracts, with the telescopic portion of the water tower
Turntable Assembly • Rotation motion on a 23.25" pitch diameter turntable swing bearing, driven by one (1) planetary hydraulic motor • Elevation motion through two (2) double acting, lift cylinders (5 deg below horizontal to 85 deg above) • All cylinders designed with integral holding valve cartridges in the event of a hydraulic line failure • Rotational brake applies when pressure control is released • Welded structure attached to the mainframe pedestal assembly • Folded and slotted steps provided on each side of the turntable • Stainless steel fold down handrail at the rear of the turntable area • Stainless steel turntable alignment indicator to assist the operator in aligning the boom with the boom support • Access to the turntable is from rear tailboard • Steps are lighted by work lights activated by the aerial master switch
Control Stations • Boom control panel located at the rear • Indicating devices, suitably lighted, clearly marked and conveniently arranged, visible from the operator's position • Second lighted control station furnished near the water tower nozzle
Aerial Waterway • Water swivel 4.00” capable of 360 degree rotation • Telescoping anodized waterway capable of 1000 gpm, fully enclosed inside the boom for maximum protection • 4.00" dia. base waterway pipe • 4.00" swivel capable of operating between -5 degrees and up to 85 degrees • Aerial monitor (electric), Akron Tuckaway self-stowing, capable of 1000 gpm • 4.00" rear inlet to the aerial waterway
Communication System • Atkinson communication system between the aerial tip and the turntable console, with optional third station at pump panel • Master control at the turntable with push button talk and volume control • Self contained "hand-off' speaker/mic at the tip
Electrical System • Electrical swivel capable of 360 degrees with 28 collector rings, each capable of 20 amps • 110V electrical system • Four (4) 12V unity lights standard, two at the tip, two at base
Pumphouse • A midship pumphouse, centered in the frame, ahead of body • Valves-Akron standard (Elkhart optional) • Pump pressure governor standard (option for a discharge relief valve or TPM)
Aerial Body • Compartmentation fabricated from .125" 5052 aluminum, galvanneal steel, or stainless steel • Side compartments integral assembly with the rear fender • Neoprene elastomer isolators will isolate chassis movement from the body structure • Bodies are formed and welded construction for durable, long lasting design without the unnecessary weight. • Exclusive Pierce underslung steel body supports featuring 3-point isolated mount system. This reduces torsional stress and road shock from being transmitted into the body. The underslung design prevents compartment floors from sagging after years of use. • Aluminum extruded rub rails, bolted on for easy repair • Interior of all compartments are painted with multispec to hide dirt, abrasions, and protect from oil, gas, and hydraulic spills. • Automotive-style hinged doors constructed with double pan, double seals, enclosed latches, and .25" hinge pins • Roll-up doors w/lifetime warranty (available in satin or painted finish) • Handrails are Pierce's exclusive "cross knurled" design to reduce hand slippage
