50' and 65’ Snozzle • Two (2) and three (3) section, telescoping and articulating aluminum boom mounted midship, constructed utilizing high-strength steel alloy • Continuous 360 degree rotation • Snozzle Model P50 operates 13' below grade • Snozzle Model 652 operates 15’ below grade • Device installed rearward of the pump house, ahead of the body
Lower Boom (Elevation Assembly) • Lift cylinder capable of elevating the waterway during maximum specified flow at all nozzle angles and extension. • Two (2) link arms provided on each side of the lower boom assembly, pinned to the upper boom to provide articulating elevation from 0 degrees to 28 degrees above horizontal • Both booms can move simultaneously with lift cylinder motion
Upper Boom (Telescoping Assembly) • Upper boom reinforced to sustain all anticipated loads and nozzle reaction force at full flow in all sweep directions. • Extension and retraction of the upper boom shall be by a hydraulic cylinder providing a fully extended stroke of approximately 16’ • Telescoping sections shall be supported by Nycast Nyoil, (or equal), pads for smooth, wear free operation • Electrical cable shall be carried within flexible tube support • Hydraulic hoses and electric cable contained inside the upper boom assembly for maximum protection • Two (2) Collins combination spot/floodlights with 750,000 peak candle power attached to the nozzle assembly
Nozzle Sweep Assembly • Consists of 3.50" internal diameter double swivel unit allowing the nozzle to sweep in both horizontal and vertical planes. • Rotation allows the nozzle to be directed 45 degrees either side of center for a 90 degree horizontal sweep Turntable Assembly • Turntable drive utilizes an external ring gear with ball bearing rotation • Ring gear is driven by a spur gear reduction input assembly • This input assembly pinion is in turn driven by a low ratio worm gear box via a reversible high torque, low-speed hydraulic motor • Gear box design prevents drifting of the turntable • Entire input assembly shall be mounted on a fabricated housing
Nozzle And Controls • Nozzle is an automatic master stream type with a water/foam flow range of 150-1500 gpm • Nozzle control is a single joystick type with dual axis function plus thumb button switch
Hydraulic Controls • Flow controls are electric, remote controlled, proportional type • All hydraulic valves equipped with extended handle manual overrides for emergency operation • Single joystick type control provided for elevation, extension, retraction and rotation operations • Controller shall have four axis functions: • Safety trigger lock prevents accidental boom movement if the joystick is inadvertently moved • Slide out tray under the pump panel provides adequate footing for the Snozzle joystick operator
Hydraulic Supply • Hydraulic pump shall be of axial piston design with a displacement of 2.83 cubic inch per revolution, rated at a continuous pressure of 2500 pounds per square inch with an intermittent pressure rating of 3000 pounds per square inch • Self contained hydraulic power unity consisting of an integral pump/motor provided as an alternative power source in the event of a main hydraulic pump failure.
Aerial Waterway • Can be operated in the stowed or deployed position • Flow capacity of 1500 gallons per minute Pumphouse • A midship pumphouse, centered in the frame, ahead of body • Valves-Akron standard (Elkhart optional) • Pump pressure governor standard (option for a discharge relief valve or TPM)
Aerial Body • Compartmentation fabricated from .125" 5052 aluminum, galvanneal steel, or stainless steel • Side compartments integral assembly with the rear fender • Neoprene elastomer isolators isolate chassis movement from the body structure • Bodies are formed and welded construction for durable, long lasting design without the unnecessary weight. • Exclusive Pierce underslung steel body supports featuring 3-point isolated mount system. This reduces torsional stress and road shock from being transmitted into the body. The underslung design prevents compartment floors from sagging after years of use. • Aluminum extruded rub rails, bolted on for easy repair • Galvanneal steel, stainless steel, high-strength aluminum • Interior of all compartments are painted with multispec to hide dirt, abrasions, and protect from oil, gas, and hydraulic spills. • Automotive-style hinged doors constructed with double pan, double seals, enclosed latches, and .25" hinge pins • Roll-up doors w/lifetime warranty (available in satin or painted finish) . • Handrails are Pierce's exclusive "cross knurled" design to reduce hand slippage |
