100’ Midmount Ladder Features • Five (5) section telescoping steel ladder constructed of high strength steel, certified to 70,000 psi • Aerial device mid-mounted behind the cab to a torque box sub-weldment w/front and rear stabilizers and the ability to short-jack • Bolt-on egress with full 750 lb. rating • Modular body construction allows for easy component replacement if damage were to occur • Electronically controlled, multiplexed and microprocessor-based system
Ladder Assembly • Ladder sections are trussed vertically and diagonally with round steel tubing • Environmentally sealed ladder sections to protect against corrosion • All ladder rungs are round and welded to each section in two places with K-Bracing for rigidity • Ladder sections are designed with adequate hand spacing and room for vertically mounted cable tracking, resulting in unobstructed egress on ladder • Ladder section overlap of 85" for strong joints, improved torsional resistance and reduced movement • Rungs are sheathed with an aggressive composite luminescent rung covers to increase visibility during egress and do not need electrical connections or amp draw • Extension and retraction motion by a dual hydraulic powered cylinders and cable pulley system • Rotation motion through a swing bearing/spur gear, driven by a planetary hydraulic motor. • Elevation motion through two double acting, lift cylinders (8 deg below horizontal to 75 deg above) • All cylinders designed with integral holding valve cartridges in the event of a hydraulic line failure • Rotational brake applies when pressure control is released
Turntable Deck • 102” wide turntable is constructed of 1.00" thick deck, coated with a non-skid, chemical resistant material • Access to the turntable is from front body stair wells, one each side of the truck • Stairs are lit by two lights activated by the aerial master switch • Includes control console and space for hydraulic and electrical components • Rotation motion through a 54 inch swing bearing/spur gear, driven by two hydraulic planetary gear boxes
Aerial Device Power • One turntable control station • Aerial controls are electronic over hydraulic, fully multiplexed and proportionate • All aerial device controls have fail-safe manual hydraulic overrides. • Hydraulic load sensing piston pump, capable of multiple-function operation without speed loss. • High pressure hydraulic manifold block, with test ports • Pressure and relief filtration system • Hydraulic reservoir of 70 gallons • Relief valve set at 3150 psi to protect hydraulic system components • 12V emergency power unit (EPU) with 30 minute run time, capable of stowing the ladder in the event of a power loss • High idle is controlled by the microprocessor to automatically adjust engine rpm to load condition • Three-speed aerial control switch
Control Stations • Wireless remote control aerial operation (optional) • Lower control station, rear compartment, centrally located • Turntable control station • Additional aerial controls available at aerial tip and pump panel
Aerial Waterway • Water swivel 5.00 inch capable of 360 degree rotation • Telescoping anodized aluminum waterway capable of 1,500 gpm • 5.50" dia. base waterway pipe • 5.00" swivel capable of operating between -8 degrees and up to 75 degrees • A 250 psi pressure relief valve located below the torque box • Aerial monitor (electric), Akron self-stowing monitor (standard.) • Water flow monitored by the aerial microprocessor • 5.00" inlet to the aerial waterway
Communication System • Atkinson communication system between the tip of the ladder and the turntable console, with optional third station at pump panel • Master control at the turntable with push button talk and volume control • Self contained "hand-off' speaker/mic at the tip of the ladder
Electrical System • Electrical swivel capable of 360 degrees with 36 collector rings, each capable of 20 amps • 110V electrical system, one (1) 20 amp NEMA L5-20, 3-prong water proof receptacles at tip of ladder (optional) • Four (4) 12V unity lights standard, two (2) at tip, two (2) at base
Pump and Pumphouses • A midship pumphouse, centered in the frame, rear of the aerial turntable • A driveline driven midship pump, Hale 8FG, single stage (NFPA 2000 gpm rating) • Piping system - stainless steel • Valves-Akron standard (Elkhart optional) • Pump pressure governor standard (option for a discharge relief valve or TPM) • Valves are electric controlled
Aerial Body • Compartmentation fabricated from .125" 5052 aluminum with a tensile strength of 38,000 psi • Side compartments integral assembly with the rear fender • Neoprene elastomer isolators will isolate chassis movement from the body structure • Bodies are formed and welded construction for durable, long lasting design without the unnecessary weight. • Exclusive Pierce underslung steel body supports featuring 3-point isolated mount system. This reduces torsional stress and road shock from being transmitted into the body. The underslung design prevents compartment floors from sagging after years of use. • Aluminum extruded rub rails, bolted on for easy repair • Interior of all compartments are painted with multispec to hide dirt, abrasions, and protect from oil, gas, and hydraulic spills. • Automotive-style hinged doors constructed with double pan, double seals, enclosed latches, and .25" hinge pins. • Roll-up doors w/lifetime warranty (available in satin or painted finish). • Handrails are Pierce's exclusive "cross knurled" design to reduce hand slippage.
