Pierce® Regional Service Facilities

From minor accident repairs to complete body replacement and aerial remounts, look to a Pierce® Regional Service Facility to add quality years to the life of your apparatus. If your vehicle has been in service for 10 to 15 years, a refurbishment can add another 10 to 15 years of useful service. And with a turnaround time that's quicker than ordering new, your vehicle's downtime will be minimized

Capabilities
Unlike some refurbishers, we handle each job in-house, with our own staff of engineers, to assure you of the highest quality. Custom blueprint drawings are produced as standard procedure for the majority of jobs, guaranteeing complete attention to detail. In addition, the extensive resources of the Pierce headquarters staff are always on call for consultation.

  • Accident repairs (from minor to rollovers)
  • Aerial overhauls and remounts
  • Pump overhauls
  • Water tank replacement
  • Cab and body replacements
  • Modifications
  • Four-door enclosed crew-cab conversions
  • Glider kits (engine and transmission) and Pierce cab remounts on other apparatus
  • Retrofit: TAK-4™ Independent Front Suspension, CAFS foam systems, Side Roll Protection system and ANNEX-D (91’ NFPA standards)

Accident Repairs
Accidents happen; it's a fact of life. But, when they happen to your apparatus, you can be assured that a Pierce® Regional Service Facility will repair your vehicle to its original quality standards. And the turnaround time will be minimal, so your apparatus can be back into service where it's needed.

Aerial Overhauls
Have your aerial device remounted on a new Pierce custom chassis with a completely new body. Or, we can refurbish and remount your existing aerial body. Either way, you'll get superior performance for much less than the cost of a new aerial apparatus. Re-certification, service and testing are included. Complete aerial overhauls and NFPA updates are also available.

Modifications
Modifications and upgrades are available to comply with current NFPA standards, such as relocation of horns and sirens, new warning lights, plumbing changes, auxiliary braking devices and more. Modifications are available for all makes and models of apparatus.

Glider Kits
This is one of the quickest, most cost-effective ways to bring an older vehicle up to compliance with most current NFPA standards. Utilizing major components from your old apparatus - engine, transmission, pump and rear axle - we'll build a new custom vehicle around them.

Cab and Body Replacements
Choose a complete cab or body replacement or both. Either way, you'll realize the benefits of an apparatus with all-new, top-quality factory components for a fraction of the cost of a new vehicle. With a replacement cab, you'll receive a completely new steering system, seats, upholstery, electrical wiring and gauges. Body replacement includes a new water tank, plus a pump enclosure and new pump control panel can be added.

Four-Door Enclosed Crew-Cab Conversions
Upgrade your two-door, open-crew-cab Dash®, Lance® or Pierce Arrow into a four-door, fully enclosed crew cab – you'll get added safety and comfort for firefighters and comply with current NFPA standards. Since the conversions are designed and built by the original manufacturer, you're guaranteed the finished product will equal original Pierce quality standards.

Facilities
Strategically located, the Pierce Regional Service Facilities employ only the most experienced experts in the fire apparatus industry. Their familiarity and understanding is a main reason why work is completed so quickly and precisely. Pierce Regional Service Facilities feature the following:

  • As many as 15 to 16 bays
  • Full coverage by overhead cranes
  • Portable hoists capable of lifting any apparatus
  • Fabrication equipment for smaller replacement parts

Refurbishment Considerations

  1. Begin by deciding how many more years of service are required from your apparatus – this will help you determine the extent of refurbishing necessary.
  2. What absolutely must be done to keep the vehicle in service?
  3. List options desired to update the apparatus for safety and convenience, as well as efficient operation.
  4. Refurbishing specifications should be detailed. Do not use vague phrases such as "repair or replace as needed." You may receive the very minimum required to meet your specs, which may not be your best value.
  5. For assistance in writing specs, consult an experienced firm with an established reputation in refurbishing.
  6. Require a list of references, including telephone numbers.
  7. Require a performance bond to assure the finished product is per your specifications.
  8. Require that all work be done at the refurbisher's facilities. This appoints one firm responsible for all work, and eliminates "buck passing" if problems arise.
  9. Require a detailed proposal to avoid misinterpretation of your specifications. If compartment or cab changes are specified, require a drawing prior to the start of work.
  10. For pump or engine work, require a pump test certification to verify that the pump meets original specs and rated capacity.
  11. Inspect the bidder's facilities to see other refurbishing project in process.
  12. If possible, make several inspection trips while your apparatus is being refurbished, to be certain all work is done to your specifications.
