Last Saturday’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at historic Lambeau Field was the largest event of its type in the country in 2016. Nearly 2,000 area residents and firefighters registered for the stair climb, which raised over $85,000 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) to assist the families of fallen firefighters.

APPLETON, Wis. (September 13, 2016) - The Fox Valley and surrounding communities can be proud that last Saturday’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at historic Lambeau Field was the largest event of its type in the country in 2016. Nearly 2,000 area residents, firefighters, and local businesses came together to pay tribute to the firefighters who gave their lives at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. The community raised over $85,000 to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and support the families of fallen firefighters.

Stair climb participants, including some who traveled from throughout the region, were invited to climb the equivalent of 110 stories – the height of the fallen World Trade Center towers – on the steps of Lambeau Field. There was a very large turnout this year in memory of the 15th anniversary of the World Trade Center tragedy. Compared to last year’s event, the number of participants, as well as funds raised, more than doubled. In a demonstration of solemn unity, those involved created a meaningful occasion to remember and honor firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.
