Pierce Manufacturing is hosting its third annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at historic Lambeau Field on Saturday, September 12, 2015.

APPLETON, Wis. (July 1, 2015) - Pierce Manufacturing Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation [NYSE: OSK] company, is hosting its third annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at historic Lambeau Field on Saturday, September 12, 2015. Last year’s event – with more than 500 participants – was among the largest stair climbs of its kind in the country.

Memorial stair climb events are a tribute to the 343 firefighters who gave their lives during the tragic events at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. All funds raised benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the families of fallen firefighters.

“The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field has quickly become an annual tradition; we, as a company, and the entire Fox Valley community, gather to pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice displayed by 343 firefighters on a day that forever changed our lives,” said Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corporation executive vice president and president of the Fire & Emergency segment and Pierce Manufacturing. “Becoming a participant – or supporting a team or group – is a moving experience. We invite residents from the region to mark their calendars and make a difference for a great cause.”

This Memorial Stair Climb gives participants the opportunity to experience Lambeau Field in a unique way. Members of the community are invited to climb the equivalent of 110 stories – the height of the fallen World Trade Center towers – on the steps of Lambeau Field. Each climber is given a badge with the name and photograph of one of the fallen firefighters, to symbolically complete the climb with one of the fallen. The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb is not a timed race and participants can climb to any desired level. (An adult or guardian must accompany minors who participate.)

The cost is $35, and pre-registered participants will receive an official event T-shirt. Event times on September 12 include on-site registration at 8:00 a.m., an Opening Ceremony at 9:00 a.m. and the stair climb at 9:30 a.m. Visit www.piercemfg.com/climb for more information and to pre-register for the 2015 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb event.
