Rick's Story

“Who knows? These trucks might be flying some day.” Throughout his 28 years with Pierce, Rick knows firsthand that anything is possible. Like transitioning from a humble city plant to the state-of-the-art facility he works in today. And like going from bending and cutting every part by hand, to operating the industry’s top lasers and mills. It’s why he isn’t quick to rule out the possibility of a flying pumper.

Rick began his career in checkout, working second shift with a handful of other guys he quickly considered family. (“Coworker” doesn’t quite apply when you build life-saving apparatus together.) Today, Rick considers himself a “behind the scenes guy.” But when you consider all the parts he stays on top of, and how he’s always coming up with better ways to manage inventory and distribute accessories, it’s clear he’s a front-runner.

Having experienced the 75th Anniversary and now the 100th, Rick’s seen his fair share of milestones at Pierce. In fact, he keeps one of his greatest memories on his desk: a brick from his old stomping ground, the city plant, that he hand-chiseled out of the wall before the building was gone.
